There will be five workshops at the conference. Attendance at the workshop, August 22, must be booked along with your registration. There is no charge for attending this year’s conference workshops. Maximum number of participants for each workshop is set to 40 persons.

Intended Audience: Language teachers (also those of the LWUTL) who would like to develop online multimedia-rich resources where all of the words in a text are linked automatically to a plethora of languages and dictionaries.

Workshop Leader: Therese Örnberg-Berglund Intended Audience: Practitioners and researchers interested in learning about and discussing how tools for communication and collaboration can be used in language learning.

Workshop Leaders: James Thomas, Alex Boulton Intended Audience: Teachers and researchers wishing to use language corpora in their teaching and research. No prior experience of corpus use is necessary. The day will be divided into 2 sessions: the morning will begin by retracing some of the basics presented at Eurocall 2011 (rationale, and using large on-line corpora); the afternoon will be given over to building and using home-made corpora. Previous participants are welcome to come to the morning as a refresher, or just the afternoon; new participants are strongly recommended to attend both sessions.

Workshop Leader: Gordon Bateson Intended Audience: Beginner to intermediate users of Moodle, basic familarity with browser and text editor is assumed, familarity with Hot Potatoes or Moodle may be useful, but is not required.

Workshop Leader: Satish Patel Intended Audience: Tutors wishing to involve their students/pupils in the creation of user-generated digital content for presentation, practice and assessment, thus creating a social constructivist environment for language learning. Participants will work with a framework for aligning learning objectives, assessment and student activity as well as creating student guidelines for production of eQuizzes and ePresentations.
